James Donald, co-owner of Concrete Wardrobe added “With the onset of the cooler weather it’s great to get Teckkam’s work in store and with her on trend combinations of colour and texture her pieces are sure to cheer up an autumn outfit ”
Teckkam likes to experiment with the effect of colour of pattern and pattern in colour. Influenced by the historical use of patterns from around the world to decorate everyday objects. Teckkam also draws inspiration from a wide range of sources such as: traditional Fair Isle and Nordic knitting; colours and patterns from Moorish ceramics and interior decoration; and many other areas of the decorative arts.

On Your Marks.
September will see a stunning display of limited edition prints and collages by one of Edinburgh’s leading screen printers.
Stewart was born in Sydney, Australia where she studied illustration and visual communication before moving to the UK.
Edinburgh has provided a constant source of inspiration, drawing it's buildings and streets for commissions and screen prints for what has become her 15th anniversary this year.
“When I'm in the studio printing, there's no place I would rather be, in many respects I use screen printing like painting. I draw up 3 or 4 layers at a time to print, and then I work on the next few layers based on the results of the first few layers, and so on, sometimes building up prints with over 25 layers in the one image. It's great when after 25+ layers, the image looks just like I had in my mind before I started” commented Stewart.
Fiona McIntosh, co-owner of Concrete Wardrobe added “We haven’t had such a huge collection from Kelly before and it will be exciting to see a mix of her framed and collaged pieces all in the one space. Many of her prints of iconic views of Edinburgh are real collectables and we can’t wait to show them off to our customers ”
Drawing Edinburgh and screen printing goes hand in hand. It's not just about being able to produce prints in an edition, its about layering up drawings, mark making, handwritten text and textures into a single image, which Kelly makes look effortless.
Concrete Wardrobe is from Monday to Friday 11am to 7pm, Saturday 11am to 6pm and Sunday 12 - 5pm.

May All Your Buns Be Iced.
May 2015 will see Fife based designer maker, artist and illustrator Claire Heminsley launching work from her collections of home wares and unique one off framed textiles pieces.
Trading under the name Incahoots, which was launched in 1986, Heminsley will be presenting her ever popular scraper board prints as well as screen prints and tea towels.
Heminsley has also been commissioned to design work for private and corporate clients. A recently commissioned example of Heminsley’s scraper board work can be seen in The Glasshouse contemporary boutique hotel situated in Greenside Row, Edinburgh.
‘Drawing is at the centre of all my work; I don’t work with any specific technique as I enjoy working with a variety of media to express my ideas and concerns in the most appropriate way. Although it is not always obvious a narrative is always there, this is as a consequence of being curious about people, their stories and the connections we all have.’
Fiona McIntosh , co-owner of Concrete Wardrobe added “Claire’s work has a distinctive humorous story telling element, which appeals to our varied customer base. This, combined with her distinctive use of line in the drawn and stitched mark gives her work a unique place within Concrete Wardrobe ”
Heminsley is also part of a voluntary organisation that runs ‘Off the Rails Arthouse’ at Ladybank Station in Fife where Heminsley also teaches a variety of workshops and masterclasses as well as throughout Scotland.
Concrete Wardrobe is from Monday to Saturday 11am to 7pm and Sunday 12 - 5pm.

April 2015
The Perfect Print.
April 2015 sees the welcome return of the Scottish Borders based Jenni Douglas who will be showcasing her contemporary artworks, stationery and gifts for the home including mugs, cushions, coasters, bags and tea towels.
Also known as A Pair of Blue Eyes, Douglas is a printmaker/designer originally from Edinburgh and now based in the beautiful Scottish Borders countryside.
Douglas uses traditional printmaking techniques to create unique and individual pieces which evoke memories of the beautiful mid century design period. Douglas’s pieces are destined to become design classics of the future.
“I am passionate about printmaking and all of my designs start life as a hand drawing which is then developed as a linocut or screen print. I love the unique marks and textures which hand printing creates, and I enjoy creating pieces which retain a sense of these processes and the makers individual mark.”
Jenni also teaches printmaking workshops and regularly undertakes commissions to create one-off, bespoke pieces for individuals and businesses.
James Donald, co-owner of Concrete Wardrobe added “Having Jenni return to Concrete Wardrobe is fantastic as we know our customers really appreciate and covet her fantastic use of colour, line and design aesthetic, which we feel is very current with the resurgence of that mid century vibe.”
Douglas’s work will be on display at Concrete Wardrobe from the 1st to the 30th of April 2015. Concrete Wardrobe is from Monday to Saturday 11am to 7pm and Sunday 12 - 5pm.
