News Release: Immediate Release - Flora And Fauna For The Home
Paper cutter and screen printer Emily Hogarth will be exhibiting a broad range of work at Concrete Wardrobe this September as the new Maker of the Month exhibitor.
Hogarth produces a range of cards, framed and unframed screen prints, home wares and original framed paper cuts. Her themes stem from her motto ‘making the everyday magical’. Hogarth captures the magic of the Scottish landscape, its wildlife, flora and fauna.
Working from her Edinburgh studio, Hogarth creates intricate paper cuts she then turns into screen prints. With her ‘Caledonia’ Print, Hogarth collaborated with the Scottish singer Dougie MacLean, and created a hand screen-printed image that is both deeply Scottish and yet uniquely Edinburgh.
Her designs have recently adorned the new Cadbury's Flake 'Allure' chocolate bar, as well as the recent Nivea Pearl and Beauty global campaign. Earlier this year Hogarth’s designs featured in the book' Paper Cutting', published by Chronicle.
A bursary awarded in 2010 by the David Carter Memorial Fund has enabled Hogarth to develop her paper-based art and she has undertaken an exploration of the relationships between paper cutting and story telling. Through her personalised paper cut commissions, Hogarth has developed a commercial application through which she can weave a story and create deeply personal art.
New home wares to be on sale at Concrete Wardrobe include bright floral tea towels and a Highland Cow apron design, also available as a postcard. Of her exhibition at Concrete Wardrobe, Hogarth observed, “The exhibition enables my customers to get a real sense of the Emily Hogarth brand. I am delighted to be able to show a broad range of my work in one central location.”
James Donald, Co-owner of Concrete Wardrobe added, “I am really looking forward to showcasing Emily Hogarth’s work this September. Her work is vibrant, exciting and an excellent example of what contemporary Scottish craft represents today.”
Emily Hogarth’s work will be on sale at Concrete Wardrobe from 1st to 30th September 2011.
Concrete Wardrobe is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm. (Sunday 12 - 4pm.)
